Fight Fat with Fire

July 2nd, 2009

You’ve heard the saying fight fire with fire.

Here’s a new twist on that old adage, but first a little diddy.

When I was little I was a bit chunky. Okay a lot chunky.
The kids in the neighborhood, my cousins, and other school
chums would all take pot shots and poke fun at my weight.

“Whats Up, Skinny Vinnie.”

“Wanna play on our team Skinny Vinnie”

Even the parents of  Duke, the meanest kid
in the neighborhood, would have a field
day with me.

One day, when I was 7 or 8 I had had enough. I got right up
and left a streetball game and walked in my house.
I went inside sat down on our red rocking chair in the corner of
my living room and put a “Fat Dunce” cap on.

Feeling extremely sorry for myself, I literally made a hat out of paper
and wrote those words on it.

Can you imagine walking into the living room
and seeing your child with that on.

???

When Mom took one look at me while walking down our
stairs, she was shocked.

“Vinnie, whats going on?”

“Everyone thinks I’m fat. I’m tired of telling them I’m not.
So I give up.”

She comforted me saying, “Vinnie you are not fat, just big boned.”

Oh thanks, I thought.

“Don’t worry Vinnie, you will show those kids someday
and they will wish they had your size and physique.”

Mom soothed the pain as much as she could. The more she
talked, the more it helped.  “I’ll show them someday,”
I said, and ripped the hat right off and crumpled it up.

Time passd. I was introduced to “Penn States” (a high intensity body
weight and towel workout) in high school
then a full out training regime in college
the same you’ll find in my Super Body Blitz program …

I remember sitting in my dorm room and opening a letter from a
parent from back home. Just so happened to be
one of the parents who would tease me.
It was right after BGSU valiantly played OSU, a Big Ten opponent, on TV.

He congratulated me and enjoyed hearing the announcer
say, “Palko on the tackle” over and over again.

“Yeah, ole ‘Skinny Vinnie’ put the screws too em- didnt he.” I thought.

My point in telling this story is this.

There are people in your life right now who doubt you.

People who make fun of your weight if not to your face behind your
back.

Well, fight FAT with Fire.

Use their comments to fuel you to be better not bitter.

Don’t give up like I did that day. The human body
is a miraculous tool that can heal itself quickly and easily
- practically overnight if you give it a chance.

You just need the right program to give you
the fastest results with the least amount of effort.
Believe you me I know - we are getting busier and busier.

Use peoples negative comments as fuel
- what I mean is see through to the future when
one day you will run into them and watch
how their jaw drops in seeing the newly transformed you.

See their facial expression go from a smile
to “Holy Sheet” and pull all that energy in, mix it with
your anger and frustration and see how this propels you moving forward.

And this is what you need when you are ready to step into that new you:

- You need a program so easy even a kid could do it.

- You need a program that gets results quickly.

- You need a program that doesnt make you get on the floor.

- You need a program that as you excel - you can add more blocks of time
to the end of the previous best workout.

You can get all this and more when you invest in Linebacker Fitness.

When you come out on the other side - I’ll be waiting
to take you through the process to shed pounds as fast as you possibly
can with the amount of time to work with.

Your new you awaits and the naysayers WILL be quieted!

Best,

Vince Palko

Fitness starts in the mind not with the body… move yourself first in your mind, then watch how easy it is for the body to follow.

My Nightlife Growing Up

July 1st, 2009

One hot summer back in 1990, I’ll never forget.

I had just had an argument with my mother.
The exact topic escapes me that we were discussing.

Instead of going to my room and sulking and getting more upset,
I left the house by foot and took a long walk.

I’ve alway been one to want to move the frustration
and anger through my body insteqd of letting
it accumulate and build.

Live qnd let go is my motto.

I remember that night vividly because
I turned that anger into something positive.

A dark neighbor hood, me and my sneakers hitting the
crumbly pavement - that’s all that was there that night.

I began thinking of my newly awarded full scholarship to BGSU
and what I wanted to do with it.

I wanna take advantage of this opportunity and really be somebody.

I wanna be the best linebacker to play at BGSU.

A wild dream as many pro athletes had come and gone through
the hollowed hallways of that stadium.

But no the less a pack I made with myself on that night
while I shuffled diagonally back and forth from side to side
on the street. Imagining I was hopping over fallen players
to streak to the running back. Then I’d walk and look up
at the dark lit sky and smile. Then I’d run as if I was dashing
out onto the field raising my arms up to acknowledge the crowd.

When I returned to cracked brick staircase of my house I sat on
the steps, I was no longer mad. No longer frustrated.

I went inside and smoothed things out with mom.
What we had previously discussed had no relevance anymore.
I was ready to bury the hatchet.

So was she.

If ever I felt frustrated or angry about something, not just with ma,
this was my ritual - to turn to the night - that summer.

That next season I started as freshman.  I started at middle LB
and we won the championship.
The years that followed that were like out of a storybook
with win upon win leading into a nice pro career.

Herein the words just typed are answers to how to turn your
life around on a dime:

First, take time for solitude… its magical
the insights you receive when you slow down
and let the chatter evaporate
and distill the nuggets of wisdom at the
bottom of the pond (your mind).

Second, make packs with yourself no matter
how far fetched they might seem.

Third, move your limbs the whole time you
are doing talking to yourself.

Fourth, do this when the rest of the world
is sleeping where its just you and the night…
this sends a serious message to the universe
that you are willing to do what it takes to get things done
when other people are no where to be found.

Fifth, don’t hold onto anger, resentment and
frustration for long. Let it go as soon as it comes
in - like a hydrogen vehicle releasing vapor into the air.

The Art of the Smile

June 29th, 2009

So my youngest daughter and I have been playing a game as of late.
You can meet her and one of her sisters, here:
http://www.vincepalko.com/palkoholics.html

I stick my tongue out at her and she is taught to smile back at me.
The first couple times are difficult for her, its an unintuitive reaction
to SMILE when someone sticks their tongue out at you. You know.

Then once she has mastered a few minutes of this,
she sticks her tongue out at me and I SMILE.

Pretty simple game, eh?

I never knew how I would put this practice into play,
just knew it was important for her to learn and perfect - like pushups
and burpies are to the armed forces.

After several weeks of practicing this fun little game,
I discovered the perfect time to implement this on the battle field of life.

Today, my older daughter started whining about the middle
daughter showing off her new camera and bragging to her.

The older one calls me on the phone, dramatically sharing
with me what has happened.  I pretend that there is a bad connection
and say, “Hello? Are you there still?”

“Okay, whats going on Sophia?”

She paused. The proceeds to tell the whole story again with a little less luster and drama.

“Okay, hun, member the trick I taught Vivian to smile when someone
sticks their tongue out at you, its time for you to implement the
infamous SMILE when Georgia brags.”

Do this and then I’ll talk to your sister when I see her.

Instant ease came over Sophia’s tone on the other end of the phone.

Your smile is your best weapon.

Use it.

Never let your enemy see you squirm or frown.

In the book, The Art of War, the author talks about never allowing your
enemy to know where you stand in relation to your desired objective.

Practice smiling everyday… it works wonders for your overall well being.
It may even dismantle some of your enemies and turn them into confused comrades.

Imagine the places where you could implement the impervious SMILE technique.

There is something infectious about a smile. I heard a man once say,
“Even if you’re homely, you look better when you smile.”

To grab a copy of my new book, Tackling Life’s Problems,
one I am very proud of, venture over to…
and secure a copy.  For the decisive doers who jump now,
I’ll even through in a couple of extras while supplies last.

Sparkling feedback is pouring in and I am glad to hear you are enjoying
Tackling Life’s Problems.

Best,

Vince Palko

Faster buy-ins and quicker closes

June 26th, 2009

Been a while… and maybe you’ve wondered
where the hecks the Godfather has been a hiding.

Under a truck load of work my friend.
Wanted to take a quick break
and fill you in on some of it.

You have expressed to me in the past that you
enjoy going through my projects in the works - so here is another one.

I have created a flip chart presentation for an E.N.T. (Ear, Nose, and Throat) doctor.
We developed a visual learning flow of
how sinusitis surgery was done in the past
and how they do it now.. to get buy-in from patients…
as well as to get referrals from family practice doctors.

You can view this sample when you click
the link below and download the Sinusitis Sales PDF.

Benefits of having a sales force equipped with these flip charts
when presenting to referral docs are:

- Clear, concise and consistent sales message (after all it is a sale trying to have the doctors refer patients)

- Visual presentation allows for easy understanding of a complex process

- Referral docs have a clearer understanding for the benefits of the new technology

- More understanding leads to more referrals

Basically, it takes the patient or referral doc through
the process of how sinusitis was treated in the past.

Then shows how medical technology has changed
and the diagnosis of the disease.

These sales tools are used to visualize any complex system or process a business might have trouble communicating to gain
greater buy in and to grow your bottom line.

If you are interested in chatting about something you would
like visualized - run over to this page and sign up while the getting is good…
FREE marketing consultation.

Once the initial slides are created - they can be turned into an electronic video
wherein the viewer watches and listens to a complete animated presentation.

All for now…

Best,

Vince Palko
